Arthur Leroy Adams

            Arthur Leroy Adams, 93 of Altoona died Sunday afternoon February 19, 2023, at his residence.

            He was born February 3, 1930, in Altoona a son of the late Ivan J. and Virginia C. (Adams) Adams. He married Lois Jean Burkhart on June 27, 1950 in Altoona. She preceded him in death November 23, 2019.

            Surviving are five children, son Arthur Lynn Adams (Anne) of Orlando, FL; daughter Linda Louise Sunderlin (Charles) of Burnside; daughter Donna Jean Horner (Randy) of Altoona; son Ivan James Adams (Sharon) of Altoona; Susan Marie Grant (Dwight) of Louisville, KY; seventeen grandchildren, Tina (Jason), Sureena (James), Michelle (Jason), Karen (Steve), Brian, Christina (Calvin), Jessica (Thomas), Ivan, Arthur, Ian, Jason (Jennifer), Jennifer (Brad), Beth, Michael, Susan (Dwight), Cody, and David; fifteen great grandchildren, Arianna, Kiana, Gareth, Kendra, Thomas “TJ”, Colton, Victoria, Kaylee, Alaina, Brayden, William, Everest, Tyler, Jasmyn, and Ariella; two great great granddaughters, Natalie and Rowena; and a sister Virginia L. Taylor of Disputanta, VA.

            He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua, and a great grandson, Landin.

            Mr. Adams was a member of the First Church of Christ, Altoona.

            Arthur was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School.

            He retired as a forklift operator from PPG Industries in 1992 following 27 years’ service.

            He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was also a member of his church bowling league and several other area bowling leagues. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

            Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday February 23, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday February 24, 2023, at First Church of Christ, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
