Barbara C. (Curry) Grassmyer

     Barbara C. Grassmyer, 82 of Altoona died Monday February 12, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. 

      She was born April 1, 1935 in Altoona a daughter of the late Clyde and Sara (Hartzell) Curry. She married Charles Ottis Grassmyer on May 7, 1960 at Third Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2009.

      Surviving are her two sons, Craig and his wife Melody of Duncansville and James and his wife Cassie of Altoona; seven grandchildren, Nichole, Ashley, Eric, Rio, Dayton, Oaklee and Jack; two sister in laws, Karen Curry and Martha "Midge" Curry.

       She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Curry. 

       She was a former member of Third Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the choir and a member of Forty Niners Sunday School class. Barbara was presently a member of Providence Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted church member and loved to serve the lord through the church. 

       Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1956 graduate of Pittsburgh Home for Babies.

        She retired from Altoona Hospital as a food service/dietary supervisor in 1996 after 25 years of service. 

          Friends will be received Saturday February 17, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Avenue, Altoona, where a memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m.with Pastor Dennis L. Braun officiating. Internment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
