Barbara R. Weiss, known to her friends as Bobbi, was born on August 17, 1937, to Bernard and Sylvia Kullmann in Richmond Hill, NY where she lived with her younger sister. She was dedicated to family, to her children, and to her close friends and always thought of others before she thought of herself; she is truly a woman of valor who will be missed.
She met, fell in love with, and married Joel A. Weiss on September 11, 1960. They lived in New York City for many many years until they moved to Altoona, PA. Bobbi served on the board of Free Synagogue of Flushing and continued her public service with the board of Temple Beth Israel.
She studied business at Hunter College and used those skills in her work at an accounting office in New York and with Brande & Saad in Altoona, retiring to focus on managing the cemetery at Temple Beth Israel. Bobbi supported many charities philanthropically, doing her part to repair the world.
As a woman of valor, Bobbi was dedicated to supporting family. She is survived by her husband Joel A. Weiss, their two daughters, Sandra Weiss and Dana Smith, son-in-law, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The family is grieving heavily at this time and we wish all who remember her to remember her generosity, her charity, her love and her strength as a human being. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her name. May her memory be for blessing.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 10, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona with Rabbi Audrey Korotkin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Altoona.
