Billie Jane (Graffious) Detwiler, 92, formerly of Altoona, died early Friday morning, June 10, 2022, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, following a brief illness.
She was born July 22, 1929 in Riddlesburg, a daughter of the late William and Viola (Gordon) Graffious. On June 18, 1948, she married Dick H. Detwiler at Bell Avenue Baptist Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2018.
Surviving are four children: Craig Detwiler (Michelle) of Californina, Dale Detwiler (Carrie) of Hagerstown, Maryland, Lori A. Benning (Mike) of North Carolina, and Larry A. Detwiler (Kelly) of Altoona; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Billie was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh.
Mrs. Detwiler was a life member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, Altoona Ward.
She was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School.
Billie was a very active member at her church. She enjoyed reading and most especially, loved spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and 10 a.m. to until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, 778 Brush Mountain Road, Hollidaysburg, where the 11 a.m. funeral service will be held, Bishop Bruce Erb presiding. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
