Byron Scott Lovell, 24 of Sinking Valley, Altoona died early Tuesday morning January 4, 2022, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born July 7, 1997, in Roaring Spring the son of Scott Michael and Lisa (Welsh) Lovell.
Surviving are his parents; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Barbara Lovell; aunt Kelly Detwiler (Larry), their children, Courtney, and Mackenzie; aunt Kim Frey (Larry), their children, Zach and Alyssa; aunt Marylee Gordon (Tom), their children, Gregg, and Leighann; uncle Bill Welsh (Mary), their children, Jordan, and Brooke; aunt Gail Welsh, her children, Aaron, Ross, and Lindsey; aunt Cindy Casey (Tim), their children, Natalie, and Nicole; uncle Bob Welsh (Mary), their children, Eric, Jennifer, and Sara; aunt Rita Swanson, her children, Valerie, Christen, and Steven; aunt Arlene Butters (Mark), their children, Jessica, and Elizabeth; aunt Beth Welsh, her children, Matthew, and Michael; uncle David Welsh (Donna), their children, Clay, and Shaun; and his best friends, Matt, Kessler, Jeff, Kyler, Dalton, and Taylor.
Byron was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Mary Welsh; an uncle, Steve Welsh; and paternal great grandmother, Mary Grace Longo.
Mr. Lovell was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.
He was a 2015 graduate of Altoona Area High School, and a 2019 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown with a double major with honors in Political Science and History.
Byron was currently employed as a research analyst by the Pennsylvania State Senate. He was previously employed by the Office of Representative Jim Gregory, the Boyer Insurance Agency, the Durbin Companies, and the 29th Street Corner Store. At an earlier time, Byron owned and operated his own lawncare service. During the summer, while he was in college, he served a two year internship with the Office of State Senator Judy Ward.
Byron loved spending time with his parents, and with his friends. He, along with his father, enjoyed restoring their 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible. He also enjoyed the beach, camping, and target shooting.
Byron was a long-time volunteer for the former “Aid for Animals” and became a foster “father” to many dogs.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday January 10, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 11, 2022, with Rev. Frank Scornaienchi officiating. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
