Carole M. Baker

            Carole M. Baker, 84 of Altoona died early Friday morning March 24, 2023, at UPMC Altoona.

            She was born August 28, 1938, in Altoona a daughter of the late Ernest S. and Mildred (Alters) Baker.

            Surviving are a brother, Jerry E. Baker of Andreas, and a sister Esther M. Lupinetti of Gallitzin.

            Carole was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Norma Baker and a brother-in-law, Ronald Lupinetti, and two nieces, Melissa Lupinetti and Wendy Sanders.

            Ms. Baker was a member of Llyswen United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            She was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School; a 1960 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree; and a 1965 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Master of Science degree.

            Carole retired as a teacher following thirty-seven years in education, seven in Logan Township, and thirty at the Spring Cove School District.

            She was a past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club; a past matron of the Altoona Chapter 290, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of the Daughters of the Nile; a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America; and a member of PASR.

            Carole enjoyed reading, traveling, and collecting nut crackers.

            Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Monday March 27, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and from 10-11 am Tuesday March 28, 2023, at Llyswen United Methodist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rebecca Holland officiating.

            Interment will be made at Mount Bethel Church Cemetery, Mill Hall.
