Carolyn Ann Troy, 78, of Altoona, died Saturday, June 5, 2021, at UPMC Altoona, after a brief illness.
She was born in Johnstown on March 30, 1943, the daughter of the late William David “Dave” and Helen Irene (Forgacs) Evans. On April 1, 1964, she married David Rutledge Troy in Winchester, Va., and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2012.
Surviving are her two children: David Jr. and Susan Troy, both in Virginia; two sisters: Kathleen Trude (Brad Mena) in Virginia and Karen Cox (Jack L.) of Altoona; numerous extended family members; and her special nursing friends: Sue and Dorothy “Dottie.”
She was preceded in death by two siblings: William David Jr. and Cheryl Lee Evans.
Mrs. Troy was a member of Jaggard First United Methodist Church, Altoona. Carolyn was a 1961 graduate of Altoona High School and a graduate of Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years as a critical care nurse countrywide and retired from Bon Secours Hospital in 2000. She taught nursing for Altoona Vo-Tech and was a dedicated volunteer with Contact-Altoona.
Carolyn enjoyed crafting, especially sewing, knitting and quilting. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed her monthly nurses luncheon group.
Her sisters believed she had “nine lives” and she made each one count.
