Charles Kimmen Obituary

            Charles William “Chuck” Kimmen, 72 of Altoona died early Thursday morning March 25, 2021 at his residence with family by his side.

            He was born March 10, 1949 in Altoona, the son of the late Charles William and Jane Gertrude (Stewart) Kimmen. He married Mary Ann Miller on March 29, 1969 in Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann; two children, son Charles William Kimmen III, wife Leann and Lori Ann Kimmen; three grandchildren, Dylan, Maxwell and Jade; a sister, Zelda M. Riddle all of Altoona; and numerous extended family members and friends.

            Chuck was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Eckels and Mary Ann Nagle.

            Mr. Kimmen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1968 graduate of Altoona Area High School and the Altoona Area Vo-Tech School plumbing program.

            Chuck was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1968 to 1972 and served in Vietnam in 1970 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He retired as the owner of Kimmen Plumbing and Heating with over forty years’ service.

            He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, traveling to Florida and especially telling stories to friends and family about all his experiences.

            Chuck was a member of Logan Lodge #490, Free & Accepted Masons; a member of the Valley of Altoona, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite bodies; a Noble of Jaffa Shrine, AAONMS; and a member of the Chief Logan Forest #131, Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

            Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday March 30, 2021 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a Funeral Service outside of Mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Lubomir Strecok officiating. A masonic funeral service will follow.

            Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Jaffa Shrine, PO Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603-1984.
