Christine M. Smith

            Christine M. Smith, 68 of Altoona died Thursday evening October 26, 2023.

            She was born March 12, 1955, in Johnstown.

            Surviving are two children, Parris Smith (Amy) of State College, and Kassandra R. Smith of Altoona; five grandchildren, Amiradama Smith-Banks, Celestine Gibson, Keagahn Smith, Olivia Smith, and Xander Smith; two sisters, Paulette DeJesus (Orlando) of Delaware, and Kelly Dempsey (Michael) of Pittsburgh; son-in-law, Christopher; and numerous extended family members.

            Christine was preceded in death by two children, Destiny Gibson, and little Rodney Smith, her father, Warren Avery Gates, and her mother, Bernadette (Feketi) Gates, and a sister, Patrice JoAnne Gates, and nephew, Blaise DeJesus.

            Christine always put others before herself and wanted her children and grandkids to be taken care of. She loved attending events that her children and grandkids were in, listening to music, dancing, singing, traveling, drawing, car rides, feeding the ducks, iguanas, and snuggles with Jackson Kitty.

            She was a member of the Altoona Mennonite Church, where she enjoyed Bible study. She was also a member of the Fentanyl Awareness Coalition and Planet Fitness.

            A gathering and memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 17, 2023, at Altoona Mennonite Church, 1405 Broadway, Altoona.
