Daniel Ginter Obituary

            Daniel C. “Dan” Ginter, 70 of Altoona died early Monday morning at his residence with his loving wife, Karyl at his side following an extended illness.

            He was born January 6, 1952, in Altoona a son of the late Maillard C. “Lefty” and Ruth Evelyn (Mock) Ginter. He married Karyl L. Stevens on June 22, 1985, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Karyl; a sister, Nancy J. Ferrier (Bob) of Greensburg; nephews and niece, Justin Ferrier, Lori Ferrier, Gregory Ferrier, Derek Ferrier (Stacy); and great niece, Felicity all of Greensburg.

            Mr. Ginter was a very active member of First Church of the Brethren, Altoona where he served as Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer, and sang in the choir and served as music leader.

Dan was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

            He was employed as a funeral assistant for many, many years by the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home and then the Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc.

            Dan was a longtime member and treasurer of the Altoona Maennerchor, and was president of the United Singers Federation of Pennsylvania. He sang in the Hollidaysburg Community Chorus where he served as treasurer. Dan was a member and treasurer of the Altoona Curve Booster Club. He was also a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, the Heidelberg Club, Lakemont Lions Club, and the Thursday Night Mens Bowling League.

            He was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions football fan.

            Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2022, at Altoona First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth Street, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Koontz officiating.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to Altoona First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth Street, Altoona, PA 16602.
