David Rawlins Obituary

            David Harrison Rawlins, 77 of Altoona died early Thursday morning November 28, 2019 at his residence.

            He was born May 4, 1942 in New Brighton a son of the late Edward F. and Dorothy M. (Schramm) Rawlins. He married Janice Arlene Rosenbauer on June 18, 1965 in New Brighton.

            Surviving are his wife, Janice; three children, son Edward K. Rawlins (Cherry) of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter Deborah S. Barker (Stephen) of Wernersville; son Michael D. Rawlins (Ann) of Altoona; seven grandchildren, Kala Fryman, Brian Rawlins (Rebecca), Andy Rawlins (Amber), Jacob Rawlins, Zachary Barker (Katie), Alex Barker (Mandi) and Morgan Brandt (Jaiden); a brother Charles Rawlins of Jacksonville, FL and a sister Ruthann Heasley (Craig) of Murfreesboro, TN.

            Mr. Rawlins was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg where he was a member of the Faith Riders.

            He was a graduate with a BA in Engineering and Mathematics from the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs in 1965; a graduate with a MS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston in 1967; and a graduate with an Executive MBA from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983.

            David served in the U.S. Air Force as both an enlisted man and an officer on active duty from 1960-1974 and then served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1974-1981 where he achieved the rank of Captain. Dave culminated his Air Force career as an Admissions Liaison to the United States Air Force Academy in the Pittsburgh area.

            He retired as a project manager from Westinghouse/CBS in 1997. He worked in Westinghouse Commercial Nuclear Programs from 1974 through 1996.

            Upon his retirement from Westinghouse, he became the owner/operator of Rawlins Picture Framing of Irwin which he ran from 1997 to 2017.

            David was a life member of the Air Force Academy Association of Graduates and a member of the Air Force Association.

            A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. December 4, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, 500 Allegheny Street, Hollidaysburg with Rev. David Bowman officiating. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
