David Allan Rhule

David Allan Rhule, 84 of Altoona died early Monday morning October 15, 2018 at UPMC Altoona following a brief illness.

            He was born July 14, 1934 in Altoona a son of the late Jonathan Edward and Thelma (Waight) Rhule. He married Marilyn Joyce Myers on April 2, 1957 in Altoona. She preceded him in death August 31, 2011.

            Surviving are three children, son David A. Rhule, Jr. and daughter Dorothy E. “Dottie” Rhule both of Altoona; daughter Wendy S. Moser and her husband John of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother Thomas Rhule of Hollidaysburg.

            David was preceded in death by an infant son, Jonathan and a sister, Doris Wright.

            Mr. Rhule was a member of First Church of Christ, Altoona.

            He was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School and received a certificate from Penn State University for extended courses in May 1955.

            Dave was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1952 thru 1954.

            He retired from the warehouse/dock of Stroehmann Bakery, now Bimbo Foods, in 1994 after 25 years’ service.

            He enjoyed Penn State football; walking; reading; movies; and John Philip Sousa military marches.

            Mr. Rhule was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3 and American Legion Post #0827.

            At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing.

            Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

            Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
