Deborah A. Lasher, 73, of Altoona, died late Friday evening, April 8, 2022, at UPMC Altoona, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease
She was born February 25, 1949, in Altoona a daughter of the late L. Niles and Norma A. (Johnson) Fishell. She married Larry G. Lasher on August 14, 1971, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Larry; two children, daughter Randi B. Payne (Scott) of York and son, Brian G. Lasher (Kathleen) of Dover, DE; nine grandchildren: Brenden Lasher (Dusty), Mikayla Frantz (Tyler), Blayne Zimmerman, Alek Payne, Jenna Lasher, Kennedy Payne, Emilee Lasher, Kale Costea, and Ashlynn Lasher; two sisters: Dana Cadiz (Doug) of South Windsor, CT and Darcy McConahy (Wayne) of Coopersburg; a brother-in-law, Leroy Lasher (Sheila) of Harrison City; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lindsay A. Lasher on February 6, 2020, and her in-laws, Jack and Pauline Lasher.
Mrs. Lasher was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona.
She was a 1967 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1970 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. Deb worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 2011.
Deb enjoyed sewing, traveling, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables. She loved going shopping and “getting a good bargain.” Most especially, Deb was a loving mother and devoted grandmother.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona.
