Dennis E. “Denny” Wardrop, 79 of Altoona died Thursday afternoon March 23, 2023, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born November 9, 1943, in Shamokin a son of the late Edwin M. and Kathryn A. (Fetterman) Wardrop. He married Sharon J. Tritle on June 1, 1973 in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon; a son, Erik B. Wardrop of Duncansville; a daughter, Jennifer Bryan (Travis Muccitelli) of Tyrone; five grandchildren, Connor Bryan, Derek Wardrop, Kathryn Bryan, Austin Wardrop, and Jordan Wardrop; and a sister, Donna Belski of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Denny was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Nye.
He was a graduate of Coal Township High School, Shamokin.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War in the Philippines attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Denny retired as a Pennsylvania State Trooper from Troop “G” in Hollidaysburg following thirty years’ service.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tying his own flies. He also enjoyed hunting and was an Awana instructor at church for several years.
A private graveside service for the family will be held in the near future at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
