Dolores Jane “Dee” Johnson, 89, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.
She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late William and Jeanette (Smith) Palmer. She married Loren Miller Johnson on Oct. 16, 1959, in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death July 26, 2012.
Surviving are three children: son, Michael L. Johnson (Carol); daughter, Pamela S. Deyarmin (Bob); and daughter, Sandra D. Becker (Barry) all of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Heather Bowmaster (Mike), Hope Marra (Travis), Rachel Williams (Rob), Bob Deyarmin III, Jenna Deyarmin, Cory Becker, Courtney Dumm (Stephen), John “J.J.” Mosher-Johnson (Jen) and Lexie Longo; 10 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Scott, Garrett, Joseph, Isaac, Dominick, Casey, Emily, Dannica and Robby; and special nieces: Nancy Rickabaugh, Kathy Rudy, Donna Miller and Patty Kerns.
Dee was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy L. Longo; and five sisters: Edna Mae Quarello, Margaret Palmer, Esther Kuhn, Barbara Miller and Shirley Houck.
She was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School.
She retired from SKF in 1994 following 30 years of service.
Dee was an avid bowler and attended many state tournaments. She enjoyed attending the activities of her grandchildren and camping when her own children were younger. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband in their later years.
A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Scott Manganella officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
