Obituary
Donald M. “Don” Hill, Jr., 76 of Altoona died Tuesday evening May 30, 2023, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born March 22, 1947, in Upland, PA, a son of the late Donald M., Sr. and Thelma Hill.
Surviving are his fiancée, Catherine M. “Cathy” Hamel; two daughters, Donna Hill, and Kelly Crane both of Philadelphia; three step-daughters, Jennifer Binus, Melissa McCloskey, and Elizabeth Snavely; and several grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of E2 Airman Apprentice. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars; the National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device; and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.
He enjoyed shooting, hunting, collecting, trains, and r/c cars and boats.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
