Donna Lee (Franks) Lysinger

            Donna Lee Lysinger, 85, of Altoona, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon September 20, 2022, at her residence.

            She was born July 12, 1937, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Mabel F. (Lee) Franks. She married Harold D. Lysinger on March 4, 1961, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death March 9, 2007.

            Surviving are a special niece, Glenda Kay Gordon (Steve) of Livonia, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Vickie J. Franks, of Altoona; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

            She was preceded in death by four siblings: Doris Ross, Howard “Bud” Franks, Sue Cullen, and Robert “Bob” Franks.

            Mrs. Lysinger was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, Altoona and was a former longtime member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona. Donna loved reading her Bible and attending any church functions.

            Donna was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School. She was employed as a salesclerk for Gable’s Department Store and then as a seamstress for Tri-Tex Corporation. 

            She had a love for all animals. Donna enjoyed volunteering at Valley View Nursing Home. She proudly participated in the Blair County Senior Olympics, receiving medals in bocce and bowling.

            The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Zlupko and 365 Hospice for their extraordinary care and kindness through this difficult time.

            Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Dennis Braun officiating.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Donna’s honor be made to Mending Hearts Rescue, 4771 East Loop Road, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, PA 16602.
