Dorcas Faye Worthing, 88 of Altoona went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday morning July 19, 2020.
She was born August 24, 1931 in Saxton a daughter of the late Ralph and Martha (Brumbaugh) Miller. She married I. Vaughn Worthing on September 10, 1954 at Raven Run Church of the Brethren in Saxton, PA. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2008.
Surviving are five children, Cathy F. Mutigli, John I. Worthing, David A. Worthing, James R. Worthing and Mary G. Sabatino, twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Dorcas was a 1949 graduate of Saxton Liberty High School. Dorcas was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Altoona and thoroughly loved her church family.
Dorcas enjoyed sewing, volunteering at the church and watching her “stories”. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorcas enjoyed her daily devotions and providing the daily sustenance for hundreds of birds in her backyard. She always had a kind hello to a passing stranger along her street. Lending a helping hand to those in need came naturally and she spent most of her life as a caregiver to others. And for those that knew her, she was the “jigsaw puzzle queen”. A chicken parmigiana dinner at the Olive Garden or Sunday brunch at the Cracker Barrel were her favorites. Oh, and she’d say, “did you know that the Dairy Queen makes a good hamburger”.
A brief viewing and funeral service will be held at the First Church of the Brethren located at 510 Fifth Street, Altoona, PA 16602, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
