Edward Charles Grimminger, 84, of Sinking Valley, Altoona died Friday morning December 31, 2021, at his residence.
He was born November 14, 1937, in Altoona a son of the late Ernest E. and Blanche A. (Rieper) Grimminger. He married Judith A. McNally on November 19, 1955, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Judith; four daughters, Tanya Marie Shearer of Bellwood, MaryJo Lynn Rodgers of Temecula, CA, Christine Ann D’Uva (Steve) of Graham, NC, and PattiLou A. Hughes (Michael) of Dysart; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three siblings, Arline L. Leberfinger of Altoona, David E. Grimminger (Barbara) of Altoona, and Janice Manning of Altoona; and brother-in-law, Edward Schorner of Lititz.
Edward was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Marie Leberfinger, and Diane L. Schorner, a son-in-law, George “Buddy” Shearer, and a brother-in-law, Robert Leberfinger.
Mr. Grimminger was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona.
He was a U.S. National Guard veteran.
He was employed as a baker for many years at the former Capital Bakery, then Maierhofer Baker, finally by Stroehmann Bakery retiring in 2010. He was also employed at an earlier time by Pittsburgh Plate and then by A. W. P. Flagging for ten years.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on small engines.
Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday January 5, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with very Rev. Ronald V. Osinski officiating.
Interment will be held at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
