Ellen Louise Britten, 85, of Altoona, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona, PA.
She was born January 28, 1935, in Ansonville, Pa, a daughter of the late Walter C. Strong and Marie (Weber) Strong Bowden. She married Oliver W. “Ollie” Britten, on November 12, 1955 at Clearfield EUB Church, in Clearfield, Pa. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2016.
Surviving are a daughter; Pamela Jean Nagle (Bill Culp) of Altoona; a sister, Doris Dale (Joseph) of Curwensville; and a grandpuppy “Louie”.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Bowden.; a sister, Lenora Haines; and son-in-law, Timothy B. Nagle.
Mrs. Britten was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Altoona.
Ellen was a 1953 graduate of Brisbin-Coalport High School.
She had been employed as a tube tester for Sylvania. She had also been employed as the Banquet Coordinator for Jaffa Shrine for many years and was employed there also as the Secretary for the Jaffa Shrine Circus advertising office.
Ellen loved cooking and doing crafts. She was a member of Altoona Chapter #290, Order of the Eastern Star; and the Daughters of the Nile.
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday February 19, 2020 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc. and 10-11 a.m. Thursday February 20, 2020 at Greenwood United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Duane J. Coy officiating. Interment will be made at Fruit Hill Cemetery, Clearfield, Pa.
