Ellen Koontz Obituary

            Ellen Carol Koontz, 58 of Altoona died Tuesday morning May 26, 2020 at her residence following a brave 2 ½ year battle with cancer.

            She was born October 26, 1961 in Johnstown a daughter of the Edward Anthony and Carole Ruth (Stahl) Barto. She married David James Koontz on July 10, 1988 in Johnstown.   

            Surviving are her husband, David; two children, daughter Erin M. Bollinger (Andrew) of Flinton; son Neil A. Koontz (Erika Levesque) of Erie; two grandchildren, William S. Bollinger and Aurora A. Bollinger both of Flinton; her parents of Johnstown; two sisters, Connie Hawkins (John) of Duncannon and Alice Urban (Vince) of Wilmington, NC; her dogs, Hudson and Harper; and numerous extended family members.

            Mrs. Koontz was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            She was a 1979 graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech School.

            Ellen was employed as an administrative assistant for Intermediate Unit 8 for five years and previously was employed by the Warren County School District for 15 years.

            She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting wineries and breweries, planning trips, Penn State sports and was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

            Private viewing and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

            Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to UPMC Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16601.
