Franklin D. “Frank” Anspach, 84, of Altoona, died Friday afternoon, July 30, 2021, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Altoona following an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Franklin M. and Freida E. (Reigh) Anspach. He married Lenora Ann Steele on Nov. 24, 1962, at Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona.
Surviving are: his wife; a son, Michael D. Anspach of Altoona; two grandchildren, Joshua D. Anspach (Crystal Dollar) of Altoona and Treva A. Anspach (Bryan Dick) of Roaring Spring; eight great-grandchildren, Cash, Rien, Danger, Valentine, Lenora, Major, Dandelion and Tig; siblings, Helen L. Kibler of Chambersburg, Richard P. Shannon (Helen), Nancy A. Blyler and Dorothy V. Bittner, all of Altoona; and numerous extended family members.
Frank was preceded in death by siblings, John M. Anspach, George F. Anspach, Fern L. Herschell, William Shannon, Robert P. Shannon, Norma L. Engle and Mildred A. Shannon.
Mr. Anspach was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954 until 1957.
He retired as a driver from Ward Trucking in 1999, following 29 years of service. He was the proud recipient of the “Driver of the Year” award in 1994 at Ward Trucking, and a driving award in 1993 for 20 years without a chargeable accident with one and one-half million miles of safe driving.
Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and his motorcycle. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
