Fred Brown Obituary

            Fred O. Brown, 84, formerly of Altoona, died Sunday, September 5, 2021, at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

            He was born in Altoona on February 26, 1937, the son of the late Harry B. and Margaret (Smith) Brown. On March 28, 1957, he married Nancy Lois Lytle in Bedford.

            Surviving are his wife; three children: Timothy F. Brown and wife, Karen, of Lexington, S.C., Deborah A. Kugle and husband, Scott, of Ashville, and Robert S. Brown and wife, Lisa, of Hollidaysburg; and four grandchildren: Cody Brown of Lexington, S.C., Jacob Brown of Elkridge, M.D., Landon Brown of Lexington, S.C. and Jordan Brown of Hollidaysburg.

            He was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Brown.

            Mr. Brown was a member of East End United Methodist Church. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1955. Fred retired from Butterick Company after over 30 years of service in 1997.

            Fred enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing (especially surf fishing) at the Outer Banks, and camping.

            The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and staff at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg for the exceptional care they gave to Fred.

            A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Fred please be made to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, PO Box 535240, Pittsburgh, PA 15253-9926 or to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries (the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg), 916 Hickory Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
