Gary Wayne McAlevy, 65, of Altoona, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness.
He was born March 28, 1956, in Bellwood, a son of the late Paul S. and Lois S. (Evans) McAlevy. He married Renée M. Colbert on April 25, 1992, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Renée, of Altoona; four children: Ashley McAlevy (Scott Shearer) of Altoona, and Brenda Wilt (Bill), Jody Partner (Tom) and Renee Swogger (Chad), all of Bellwood; twelve grandchildren: his princess, Keiarra; Blair; Cole; Atherton; Dalton; Alyson; Jalynn; Bradyn; Camden; Kendall; Lauren; and Paige; his cousin, Butch McAlevy, of Alexandria; brothers-in-law: Jim Frederick, Kevin Colasante and Dwayne Raichle; sisters-in-law: Jonnie Frederick, Lynn Colasante and Tracey Raichle; nieces and nephews: Jasey Rakoczy, Tyler Frederick, Jordan Raichle, Tia Colasante and Josh Colasante; and childhood best friends: John and Rose Gardner of Bellwood and Dave and Dee Pechowych of Osceola Mills.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Shirley Colbert.
Gary was a 1974 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. He was employed as a truck driver in the fracking industry for JAQ Trucking, Inc.
Gary enjoyed watching the Steelers, riding motorcycles, camping, taking care of his animals, and most of all, spending time with his family and his granddaughter, Keiarra.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. with the Chaplain Tony Conrad officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
