Obituary

            Gary Kent “Jiggs” Mosel, 76 of Altoona died Saturday afternoon December 5, 2020 at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona.

            He was born June 25, 1944 in Altoona a son of the late George K. Mosel and Alma H. (Imler) Mosel Shultz. He married Dolly A. Waite on September 18, 1993. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2017.

            Surviving are five siblings, George Mosel (Mary) of Harrisburg; Connie Dengler (James) of Hummelstown; Cathy Brewer of McAllisterville; Mike Mosel (Peggy) of Midlothian, VA; Timothy Mosel (Connie) of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Earl Brewer.

            Mr. Mosel was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School.

            Jiggs retired from Bathfitters. He had previously been employed as the owner of the Corner Variety Store and had also been an assistant manager at Tri-State and worked in numerous retail stores.

            He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football.

            Private visitation and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

            The family would like to thank the staff of Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, especially the D-wing for the excellent care Gary received during his stay.
