George R. Furman, III, 58, of Altoona, died Thursday afternoon, September 8, 2022, at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.
He was born on December 2, 1963, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, a son of the late George R. Furman, II. On October 4, 2013, he married Paula L. Middleton at their residence in Duncansville.
Surviving along with his wife, Paula, are four children: Joshua (Victoria), Destiney, Cassandra, and Joseph Furman, all of Lewistown; three stepchildren: Marchessa Smith of Hollidaysburg, RJ, and Abigail Smith, both of Altoona; 15 grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
George spent most of his younger years traveling, making it to 41 states across the country. He enjoyed was NASCAR, especially Chase Elliott. He enjoyed researching his Native American lineage. Most of all, he loved spending time with all of his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Central PA Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602.
