George E. Miller, 81, of Tyrone, previously of Leesburg, Florida, died December 1, 2021, at his residence.
He was born July 10, 1940, in Altoona, a son of the late George Sylvester and Catherine Mary (Kaylor) Miller. On December 28, 1989, he married Nancy Jane Krywokulski in Altoona.
Surviving along with his wife of almost 32 years are two children: Scott Brian Miller and Melissa Dawn (Tim) Blake; four step-children: Terry Sue Wineland, Karen Jo (Dave) Mueller, Lonnie (Jen) Lonsinger, Eric N. (Trudi) Lonsinger; 15 grandchildren: Erin, Austin, Kara, Andrew, Josh, Jordan, Brittney, Ashley, Adam, Aaron, Lonnie, Zach, Troy, Cory, Jeremy; 38 great-grandchildren; a sister: Sally Huff; a special cousin: George (Sharen) Kaylor; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sherry Lynne James.
George was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army and 298th Maintenance Company, 99th ARCOM for the U.S. Army Reserves for 23 years. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 30 years of service.
He enjoyed researching genealogy, corvettes, Steelers, Penn State, and bowling. George was a lifetime member of Bavarian Aid Society. George loved spending time with his family and friends, but above all he loved God. He was a member of M.F.L. Church, Leesburg, Florida.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday December 8, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Rev. Richard McCahan officiating.
