George Edward "Ed" Taneyhill

            George Edward “Ed” Taneyhill, 88, passed away Friday December 4, 2020 at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona.

            He was born December 2, 1932 in Altoona a son of the late George E. and Sarah (Guyer) Taneyhill. He married Evelyn J. Atkins on June 3, 1969.

            Surviving are his wife; a son, Dale Taneyhill; a stepdaughter, Cathy Cody (William); two grandchildren, Alyssa Shroyer and Sarah Taneyhill; five great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Amy Taneyhill; and his sisters, Marylou Taneyhill and Cora Mae Weller.

            He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Taneyhill.

            Ed was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and a member of First Church of the Brethren.

            He retired as a manager and purchasing agent at Allegheny Electronics in 1996 after 43 years’ service.

            Ed loved shooting at the Riggles Gap Sportsman’s Club. He was member of their association along with being a life-time member of the NRA. He also sat on the Board of Directors for the Blair County Game Fish and Forestry Association. 

            A memorial service will be planned for a future date.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Altoona First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth Street, Altoona, PA 16602.
