Gerald Richard “Bubba” Oswalt, 72 of Altoona died Saturday morning September 23, 2023, at UPMC Altoona following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 26, 1951, in Altoona, a son of the late Gerald Clair and Ann Louise (Taylor) Oswalt. He married Mary Jo Mauk on March 22, 1975, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; two sons, Gerald Richard Oswalt, II (Beth) of Bellwood, and Michael Allen Oswalt (Rebecca) of Corpus Christi, TX; six grandchildren, Sapphire, Donovan, Dakota, Christian, Aiden, and Brendon; and a great grandson, expected in November; and a sister, Kathleen Mae Beasom (Bill) of Warren, OH.
Bubba was preceded in death by a brother, James Oswalt; his puppy, “Baby Girl”, and his grand puppy, “Dahlila”.
He was a graduate of Hilo High School, Hilo, Hawaii.
He retired from Fry Metals/MacDermid Alpha on March 1, 2017, following 36 ½ years’ service.
Bubba loved fishing, motorcycle riding, and attending old car shows, but he most especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandsons, and time spent with his best buddy “Buddy” and his cat “Sassy”.
Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday September 28, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
