Gloria M. Beatty

            Gloria M. Beatty, 70 of Altoona died unexpectedly late Saturday morning March 9, 2024, following a two year courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

            She was born April 5, 1953, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Dolores (Slates) Ritchey. She married Robert E. Beatty on May 1, 1971, at the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are her beloved husband, Robert; three children, son Wayne A. “Skip” Beatty (Debra) of Flinton, daughter Christine M. Greek (William) of Kane, son Shawn M. Beatty (Kandy) of Altoona; six grandchildren, Kiersten O’Dellick, Tyler Beatty, Shyann Beatty, Dravin Beatty, Colton Beatty, and Bryana Ayala; sister Sarah Napolitana, and brother William Ritchey both of Altoona; and numerous extended family members.

            Gloria was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Ritchey, and a sister, Carol Smith.

            Mrs. Beatty was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

            She retired as a Certified Nurses Assistant from Valley View Home following eight years’ service. She had previously been employed by Puritan Sportswear for five years, then Saf-T-Bak for fourteen years, then by C-COR for eight years.

            Gloria was an avid reader, she also enjoyed listening to music, especially the “oldies,” sewing, and her dogs: “Newman”, “Levi”, and “Bentley”.

            She enjoyed driving her bright yellow Ford Mustang.

            Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 12, 2024, and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 13, 2024, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Drew McCaffery officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
