Ina M. (Quarry) Stewart

            Ina M. Stewart, 95 of Altoona died Friday afternoon January 24, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

            She was born January 3, 1925 in Williamsburg a daughter of the late John William and Matty Orvilla (Swartz) Quarry. She married Chester R. Stewart on December 13, 1942 in the Canoe Creek Church of the Brethren. He preceded her in death March 25, 1979.

            Surviving are nine children, daughter Linda J. Delozier (Eugene “Pooch”) of Dunedin, FL; daughter Shirley Y. Scalice (R. John); son Lynn E. “Sonny” Stewart (Karen); son James R. Stewart (Tammie); daughter Mona L. Leach (Ronald); son Thomas A. Stewart (Lynn); son Kevin M. Stewart (Denise); son Dennis M. Stewart (Cheryl); and son Stephen P. Stewart (Becky) all of Altoona; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren; her dog, Thunder; and numerous extended family.

            Ina was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Donald Quarry and a sister, Dorothy Huber; and two grandsons, Gregg A Scalice and Christopher M. Stewart; and a son-in-law, Kenneth E. Howsare.

            Mrs. Stewart was a member of Altoona First Church of the Brethren.

            She was a 1942 graduate of Williamsburg High School.

            She retired as a manager from the former Majik-Mart convenience stores and was previously employed by the former Altoona Shoe Factory amongst other jobs.

            Ina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, friend and mother to all who knew and loved her.

            She served as a volunteer for Blair Senior Services and the Meals-on-Wheels program.

            Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday January 28, 2020 at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. with Pastor Stewart W. McClelland officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
