Obituary
Irene L. “Rene” Arthur, 89 died Saturday morning March 25, 2023, at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born February 26, 1934, in Altoona a daughter of the late Ira L. and Dorothy M. (Lafferty) Wilt. She married Ralph W. Arthur, Jr., in May of 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death November 26, 2021.
Surviving are two children, son Ralph W. “Bill” Arthur, III and his wife Karol of Punta Gorda, FL; son Jeffrey A. Arthur and his wife Virginia “Ginney” of Dysart; five grandchildren, Justin Arthur (Abby), Julie Kling (Jeffrey), Jereme Arthur, Jennel Krycia, and Jordan Arthur; and eight great grandchildren, Sydney, Shelby, Phoebe, and Heidi Arthur, Hunter and Lilyanna Kling, Benjamin Krycia, and Delilah Arthur; sister, Debbie Clair (Ronald) of Arizona, brother, William Wilt (Donna) of Altoona, brother, Herbert Wilt (Mary Louise) of Altoona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rene was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Sue Arthur on May 24, 2020, and a sister, Marlene Harris on February 13, 2018, sister, Mae Carbonetti, sister, Janice Rhodes, and brother, Ira Wilt, Jr.
She was a 1952 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.
Rene retired as a corporate secretary from Royal Tile and Carpet following over twenty years’ service.
She enjoyed reading, and crossword puzzles.
She was a member and past president of the Altoona Dandelions; Jobel Court; Daughters of the Nile; and a life member of the Hollidaysburg YMCA Auxiliary.
A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Entombment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to the Hollidaysburg Area School District Foundation, 405 Clark Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
