Irene Rainelli Dean-Semple

Irene R. Dean-Semple, 98, of Altoona passed away on May 25, 2023, at Celebration Villa of Altoona, surrounded by family.  She was born at home in Altoona on August 20,1924 to Frederick and Catherine (Dempsey) Rainelli.  She was predeceased by her parents and her older brothers, Daniel, James and David Rainelli.  She was twice married; to Frederick Scott Dean on August 11, 1951 (divorced) and to Marvin Dale Semple on August 20, 2005, both deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Irene Dean of Los Angeles, CA and a son, Frederick Dean of Suwanee, GA.  In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews, especially Kelly Dunkle and Gina Gonzales. 

Irene was a 1942 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.  She was also a member of United Methodists Women in Faith, Altoona Area Sewing Club, Friends of the Library and Bible Study. She retired from SKF Industries in 1985. 

Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Celebration Villa of Altoona and Pinnacle Palliative Care for their kind and compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, details to be announced.
