Jack Donald Covert

            Jack Donald Covert, 76 of Altoona died early Sunday morning May 5, 2019 at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness.

            He was born October 15, 1942 in Altoona a son of the late Earl and Bettie (Shaffer) Covert. He married Sharon D. Liebegott on March 3, 1959 in Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Sharon; five children, son Jack Scott Covert of New Cumberland; son Todd Jeffrey Covert and his wife, Jessie; daughter Dana Lynne Fraundorfer and her husband, James; daughter Kimberly Dawn Covert and her fiancé, Greg; daughter Dawn Michele Bare and her husband, Tommy all of Altoona; thirteen grandchildren, David (Kristi), Cori (Dallas), Matthew, Shannon, T.J., Seth, Ryan, Brianne, Holly (Isaiah), Zac, Allison, Emily and Bradley; four great grandchildren, Riley, Kailyn, Madilyn and Dawson; mother-in-law, Dorothy Liebegott of Altoona; and brother-in-law, Dean Liebegott and his wife, Lory of Altoona.

            Mr. Covert was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a graduate of Altoona High School.

            He was a veteran serving in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

            Jack retired as a supervisor from Penelec in Huntingdon in 2004 after over 40 years service where he was previously employed as a lineman.

            He enjoyed music, drum & bugle corps, gardening, the outdoors, wiring, home repair and enjoyed animals. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

            Friends will be received from 4-8 pm today May 7, 2019 and 10-11 am Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Brian Sandell officiating.

            Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
