Jack Horton Obituary

Jack C. “Horse” or “Unc” Horton, 87, of Altoona, died Monday, March 8, 2021, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Altoona on February 27, 1934, the son of Charles E. and Daisy Mae (Homan) Horton.

Surviving are his two daughters: Teresa J. “Terri” Prough (Daniel) and Kimberly J. Horton (Rusty), both of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers; a sister; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 28 years, Mildred Joann (Stayer) Horton; three children: Vicky Weigand (Rick), Janet Alberts and Jackie Horton; a granddaughter, Danielle J. Prough; and a great-grandson, Jerrie Weigand.

Mr. Horton retired as a service technician from Coca-Cola after 41 years of service.

Jack was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society, the Concordia and Unter Uns.

Horse enjoyed softball, bowling and sports, watching Western movies and television, but most of all, Jack enjoyed spending time with his family.

A private viewing and service will be held at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
