James Edward "Jet" Trimer

            James Edward “Jet” Trimer, 73 of Altoona died Wednesday evening January 29, 2020 at his residence.

            He was born November 1, 1946 in Altoona a son of the late Charles Joseph and Anna Mae (Yeager) Trimer. He married Connie J. Carter on October 16, 1998 in Winchester, VA.

            Surviving are his wife, Connie; a son Mark Christopher Trimer and his wife, Heazel of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Sophia Trimer and twins Avery and Jacob Trimer all of North Carolina; and a sister, Judy Robbins of Altoona.

            Jet was preceded in death by five sisters, Anna Mae “Hootie” O’Connor, Charmaine “Sissy” Seaman, Barbara Strayer, Patty Stoltz, and Janie Lewis and two brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Trimer and David “Dub” Trimer.

            He was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School.

            He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1967-1970 attaining the rank of Specialist 5.

            Jet retired as a purchasing agent, previously being employed in the storeroom, from the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in June of 2004 after twenty-eight and a half years’ service.

            He enjoyed bowling, billiards and beer.

            Jet was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, the Buccinese Club, the Unter Uns Society, the Newburg Fire Hall, the Swiss Club, the St. Stanislaus Club, the Juniata V.F.W., and he was an honorary member of the Concordia Singing Society.

            Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday February 5, 2020 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., Altoona where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. with military honors to follow.
