Joyce E. Horton, 83 of Altoona died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon September 2, 2020 at UPMC Altoona.
She was born April 10, 1937 in Altoona a daughter of the late James Edward and Mary E. (Lauer) Dobson. She married James D. Horton on June 23, 1956 in Virginia.
Surviving are her husband, James; three children, daughter, Donna L. Weaver (Jerry); son, Christopher E. Horton (Tricia); son, Stephen M. Horton (Sharon) all of Altoona; six grandchildren, Carrie Burk Vanover (Taylor); Justin Horton; Mandy Horton (Brian Robinson); Stephanie Johnson (Brad); Trenton Hardie and Bella Hardie; numerous great grandchildren and a brother, Thomas Wayne Dobson (Janet) of Tampa, FL.
Joyce was preceded in death by a son, James D. Horton, Jr.; a granddaughter, Brittany Horton; three sisters, Edna Mae Buckreis, Lois B. Bryson, Bernice A. Horton and a brother, Edward Dobson.
Mrs. Horton was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona.
She attended St. Mary’s School and Altoona Catholic High School.
Joyce retired as a mender from Warnaco in 1985 following eleven years’ service. She had previously been employed by L. Grief & Brothers, Altoona.
She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, bowling, and cooking especially at the Moose Lodge and at her son’s tavern, Co”brh”’s.
A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Entombment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
