Joyce D. Wagner, 90 of Altoona died Wednesday evening February 3, 2021 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona following a lengthy battle with ALS.
She was born December 12, 1930 in Altoona a daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Baker) Chambers. She married George C. Wagner on March 3, 1954 in Altoona. He preceded her in death December 12, 2019.
Surviving are a son Eric K. Wagner and his wife Gale of Somerset; daughter-in-law Lee Poff of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Lauren, Drew, Karli, Joe and Lucas; and eight great grandchildren, Oliver, Judah, Jesse, Marley, Thia, Miles, Hudson and Bowen.
Joyce was preceded in death by two sons, Drew Scott Wagner and Kurt Allan Wagner and a grandson Jesse.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School with the kindergarten class.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Lock Haven University.
Joyce retired as a Kindergarten Teacher from the Altoona Area School District at Irving Elementary School in 1997 following thirty years’ service.
She was a member of the Jobel Court #11, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America; Daughters of the Nile; and was a Past Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed camping with George and her family.
There will be no viewing.
A future memorial service is planned.
