Leda Mae Hoffman, 97, died early Friday morning, January 21, 2022, at her residence.
Born September 19, 1924 in Cross Keys, Duncansville, a daughter of the late George and Olive (Brubaker) Helsel. On October 22, 1942, she married the late Charles H. Hoffman in Elkton, Maryland. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters: Judith Hoffman of York, PA and June Weston (Jim) of Altoona; six grandchildren: Laura Sharp (Jim Waller), Jim Getty (Lisa), Carol Watson, Charles Getty (Oksana), Jennifer Brown (Jim), Amy Bell (Gregory); 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Sharp and four siblings: Della Lavada Stevens, Carl Helsel, Dessa Marie Kaufman, and Richard Helsel.
Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona, where she was also a member of the “Bethany Quilters.”
She graduated Altoona High School in 1942.
Leda enjoyed quilting and oil painting and especially loved spending time with family.
A private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Cemetery, Bellwood.
