Martavene Hope "Martie" (Johnsonbaugh) Koch

            Martavene Hope “Martie” Koch, 83 formerly of Altoona died Sunday afternoon March 31, 2019 at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

            She was born July 21, 1935 in Altoona a daughter of the late John and Ada (Croft) Johnsonbaugh. She married Richard W. Koch on October 13, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1985.

            Surviving are two children, daughter Lucinda L. “Cindie” Naugle and son Terrence L. “Terry” Koch both of Altoona; a granddaughter Traci L. Naugle of Altoona who was raised in her home; a sister Eleanor Hewitt of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Martie was preceded in death by siblings, Helyn Pine, Robert Johnsonbaugh, Denice Johnsonbaugh, Drucilla Detwiler, John Woodman “Woody” Johnsonbaugh, and infant brothers, Wade and Jackie Johnsonbaugh.

            Mrs. Koch was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

            She was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School.

            Martie retired as a salesperson for Eckard Drug in 2001 after twelve years’ service and had previously been employed by Gable’s Department Store for ten years.

            Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Drew McCaffery officiating.

            Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
