Obituary

           

            Mary Jo Stacey, 75, of Altoona died late Sunday evening March 5, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.

            She was born June 8, 1947, in Altoona a daughter of the late W. Girard and Bertha H. (Blontz) Wolfe. She was twice married, first on May 7, 1966 to Anthony J. Pellegrino who preceded her in death May 20, 1973, she then married Stephen Stacey on August 24, 1991.

            Surviving are her husband, Stephen; four children, son Anthony J. Pellegrino Jr. of Altoona, daughter Lori J. Bollinger (Mark) of Altoona, son Robert D. Stacey (Sherry) of Tennessee, and son Stephen Stacey; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother-in-law, John “Boobie” Pellegrino (Sharon) of Florida, sister-in-law, Lena Pellegrino of Altoona, brother-in-law, Daniel Melley (Cindy) of Altoona; numerous extended family members; and her dogs, “Chloe” and “Peppe”.

            Mary Jo was preceded in death by the following brothers, sisters, and brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law: John Wolfe, Frank “Puck” Pellegrino, Angie Verilla, Anna Belin, Alex Moretto, Minnie O’Grattis, Lilly Bonetti, Samuel Pellegrino, Alfred Pellegrino, Edith Hogencamp, Mario Pellegrino, Amelia DeLeo, Dick Stacey, and Nancy Fornwalt.

            Mrs. Stacey was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

            She was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School.

            Mary Jo retired from the Environmental Services Department of UPMC Altoona. She had previously been employed as a Deli Manager at Weis Markets, Altoona with over twenty years’ service.

            She enjoyed Bingo, playing the lottery, including scratch-off tickets, casino trips, crocheting, animals, and gardening.

            Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday March 10, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a vigil service for the deceased will be held at 7:00 p.m.

            A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 11, 2023, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, One Cathedral Square, Altoona with the Rev. Msgr. Stanley Carson, celebrant and Rev. Fr. Christopher Panagopoulos, TOR, con-celebrant. Graveside committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
