Melanie Rose (Carr) Cartwright

            Melanie Rose “Mel” (Carr) Cartwright, 54, of Etters, formerly of Altoona died unexpectedly October 20, 2022.

            She was born June 5, 1968, in Altoona a daughter of Rosetta Carr and Shukar Elahee. She married Wayne T. Cartwright on March 20, 1993, in Eastpointe, Michigan.

            Surviving are her husband, Wayne; two children, daughter Miranda Cartwright, and son Justin Cartwright all of Etters; her mother Rosetta Carr; her sister Jalonda Carr and her children, Blake Walker, Brent Murphy, Jason Carr-Keefe, Travis Carr-Keefe, David Carr-Owens, Zoey Carr, and Zada Carr; an aunt Loretta Carr; brother-in-law Timothy Cartwright, and his daughter Andrea; sister-in-law Dawn (Cartwright) Smith and her husband David, and their children, Zachary, Carsyn, Callista, and Grayson; sister-in-law Helen Papi and her husband Andrew, and their children, Kiara Wolfe, Ethan Papi, and Sarah Papi; cousin David Thomas and his wife Kirsten, and their daughter Taylor; cousin Timmie Thomas-Brown and her children, Darius Brown and Jaden Brown; and cousin Jamie Butler.

            Mel was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

            She was a 1986 graduate of Altoona Area High School and the Altoona Area Vocational-Technical School.

            She was employed as an excellent seamstress in various positions and industries throughout her career. Mel, most recently, was a caretaker for her elderly mother.

            Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 16, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith R. Moore, officiant.
