Melissa L. "Missy" Morgan

            Melissa L. “Missy” Morgan, 48 of Altoona died unexpectedly Sunday morning January 8, 2023, at UPMC Altoona.

            She was born February 7, 1974 in Altoona a daughter of the late Thomas Irvin and Dorothy Lorraine “Lori” (Keller) Morgan.

            Surviving are three children, daughter Miranda N. L. Daugherty (fiancé James Harlow), son Caleb T. R. Daugherty (Marissa McCulley), and son Brayden D. I. Daugherty (Abby Kruis) all of Altoona; two grandchildren, Ava K. L. Harlow, and Oliver T. G. McCulley, and a granddaughter, Leia L. Daugherty to be born in May; brother Thomas I. Morgan, Jr. (Tammy) of Altoona, sister Melinda M. Patterson (Marcus) of Minnesota; grandmother Geraldine V. “Granny” Morgan of Altoona; stepmother Susan L. Morgan of Altoona; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

            Missy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Keller, and her paternal grandfather Richard I. Morgan.

            She attended Altoona First Church of the Brethren.

            She was a 1992 graduate of Altoona Area High School, and a graduate of YTI Career Institute.

            Missy was employed as a needs assessment coordinator with Pyramid Healthcare.

            She was a volunteer firefighter with the Newburg Fire Company where she was also a member of the Newburg Social Hall. She enjoyed camping, diamond painting, and she was an avid billiards fan. Missy especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a former member of the Riggles Gap Sportsmans Club.

            Friends will be received from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday January 16, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a Fireman’s Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 pm, and 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday January 17, 2023, at Altoona First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth Street, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Gary Koontz officiating.

            Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
