Pastor Billy Gene Aurandt

            Pastor Billy Gene Aurandt, 82, of Juniata, Altoona went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening November 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.

            He was born October 29, 1939, in Williamsburg a son of the late William and Pearl (Eberly) Aurandt. He married Katherine Montrose Heaton on June 10, 1961, in the Garden Heights section of Altoona. She preceded him in death August 15, 2011.

            Surviving are seven children, son Earl G. Aurandt (Joyce Dean) of Tipton; son David D. Aurandt (Paula) and son Gerry A. Aurandt (Cindi) all of Juniata; son Ronald S. Aurandt (Stephanie) of Clearwater, FL; son Timothy M. Aurandt (Theresa Aurandt Burns) of Seffner, FL; son Paul M. Aurandt (Jennifer) of Houtzdale; and daughter Lisa J. Smida of Sinking Valley; five grandchildren, Casey Eckenrode (Solly), Dillan Aurandt (Alexis), Michelle Brode (Andrew), Tia Aurandt, and Brandon Smida (Kaytee); and two great grandchildren, Paisley and Bryer.

            Billy was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice “Joy” Figuero.

            Mr. Aurandt was a member of the Juniata Church of the Brethren.

            He retired in 2004 as an auto body technician from Cumming Motors and concurrently was a Pastor for 51 years and taught at the Altoona Bible Institute for over 40 years.

            Pastor Billy as he was affectionately known, loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed auto restoration and leather working.

            The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice, especially Brittany, Jenn, and Denise for the loving care they provided to Billy during his illness.

            Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday November 22, 2021, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday November 23, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Smith, officiating.

            Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park.
