Paul J. Walter, 89, of Altoona, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon May 28, 2022, at his residence.
He was born May 20, 1933, in New Castle a son of the late Paul E. and Jean A. (Arble) Walter. He married Jeanne P. Weigley on February 7, 1955, in Fayetteville, NC. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2017.
Surviving is a son, Jeffrey P. Walter of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregg W. Walter.
Paul was a graduate of North Beaver Consolidated High School, attended Penn State University, Youngstown University, and earned a BLA from Wheeling Jesuit University.
Mr. Walter proudly served in the United States Army from August 1953 to August 1956 where he was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC.
He was employed as a mechanical engineer for most of his career.
Paul was a FAA inspector and licensed commercial pilot. He enjoyed flying, making model airplanes, restoring toys, and restoring cars. Paul also loved his dogs, as they brought him great joy.
He was a member of the Foster Grandparents Program at Myers Elementary School, Bellwood.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday June 7, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane J. Coy officiating.
