Peggy J. Bryan, 87 of Altoona died Monday morning March 11, 2024, at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born August 16, 1936, in Altoona a daughter of the late David A. and Margaret A. (Bush) Detwiler. She married Donald S. Bryan on July 14, 1956, in Altoona. He preceded her in death July 7, 2021.
Surviving are three children, son David S. “Sandy” Bryan (Mary E. Mills) of Punxsutawney, daughter Michele M. Fox (Richard) of Hollidaysburg, son Thomas M. “Tim” Bryan of Altoona; three grandchildren, Connor Bryan (Christina), Carson Bryan, and Gianna Bryan; a brother, David A. Detwiler (Dana) of Altoona; and numerous extended family members.
Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jonna Bryan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Adam and Marie Lawruk; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Elizabeth Christopher.
Mrs. Bryan was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona.
She was a 1954 graduate of Altoona High School.
Peggy retired as a display supervisor for Sears following fifteen years’ service.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially time spent on family vacations spent at the beach. She also enjoyed square-dancing with Don with the former Chimrock Squares.
Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday March 18, 2024, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a vigil service for the deceased will be held.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday March 19, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 Fifth Avenue, Altoona with Rev. Lubomr J. Strecok officiating. Entombment will be made at the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
