Raymond Lawrence “Bun” Cook, 84 of Altoona died Saturday morning July 1, 2023, at Graystone Manor, Bellemead.
He was born April 7, 1939, in Smithmill, PA a son of the late John and Anna Marie (Barto) Cook. He married Elaine Robertson on July 9, 1960, in Houtzdale.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine; two children daughter Dianne Louise Hoover (John) of Tyrone, and Raymond John Cook (Kimberly) of Petersburg; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Cook (Connie) of Altoona, and Arthur Cook (Maxine) of Jamestown, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Ray was preceded in death by a brother John Cook, Jr., and an infant brother, Ronald.
Mr. Cook was a member of Pinecroft United Methodist Church.
Bun was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1956-1964.
He retired as a tool and die maker from Veeder-Root.
Ray was a member of Logan Lodge #490, Free & Accepted Masons; a member of the Valley of Altoona, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite bodies; a member of Jaffa Shriners where he belonged to the Cycle Corps unit, the Jaffa Roadrunners, the Jaffa Shrine bowling league and formerly, the Jaffa Shrine Hillbillies. He was a member of Colotic Miztli #91, Order of Quetzalcoatl; and Altoona Court #70, Royal Order of Jesters.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday July 6, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a Masonic funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be made at Beulah Cemetery, Ramey.
