Richard W. "Dick" Arthurs

            Richard W. “Dick” Arthurs, 84 of Altoona, died early Monday morning October 16, 2023, at UPMC Altoona.

            He was born June 25, 1939, in Altoona, a son of the late John A. and Dorothy P. (Burke) Arthurs. He married Judith A. Miller on January 26, 1968, in Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Judy; his son Kevin S. Arthurs of Altoona; two granddaughters, Abigail M. “Abby” Arthurs (Bruce Krestar, Jr.), and Morgan G. Arthurs all of Altoona; two brothers, Gary L. Arthurs (Darlene) of Kentucky, and John A. Arthurs, Jr. of Altoona; and numerous extended family members.

            Dick was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Arthurs in 1987.

            Mr. Arthurs was a faithful member of Second Avenue Global Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School.

            Dick retired as an accountant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in 2001 following 33 years’ service.

            He enjoyed watching sports, news, and old horror movies on TV.

            The family would like to thank the staff of the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg for the wonderful care Dick received while he was a guest at their facility.

            Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday October 19, 2023, and 10-11 a.m. Friday October 20, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Brian Sandell officiating.

            Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
