Richard Joseph Schnaubelt was born in Altoona Hospital to Bertha “Corky” Confer Schnaubelt and the late Richard Louis Schnaubelt.
He is survived by his mother, one son, Dustin James and granddaughter, Avery Rose, grandmother, Vera Confer Hauck, and brother, Louis D. Schnaubelt, all of Altoona; sisters, Catherine (Paul) Rogers of Pittsburgh, Teresa (Tom) Martin of Julian, and Diane Mcquaid of Erie. His dear life partner Joann Banks and her children, Jessica Banks Lee and Martin Banks and their families, half-brother, Ryan Reininger also of Altoona, plus his large, loving extended family. Richard cared for and loved his family deeply.
He was an avid sportsman, gardener, and craftsman. Rich was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns Society and The Fish Camp @ Petersburg where he enjoyed many days of camp life by the river.
Rich attended St. Mary’s School and Altoona Area High School. He worked at UPMC Altoona Hospital for thirty years where he was respected and loved by his coworkers and all who knew him.
It is with heavy sorrow that we say goodbye to our dear Richie who will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday November 8, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Lubomir Strecok officiating. A memorial mass will be celebrated in the future at the convenience of the family.
