            Robert Douglas “Bob” DeWitt, 87 of Altoona, died Sunday evening November 26, 2023, at UPMC Altoona following a brief illness.

            He was born August 16, 1936, in Altoona, a son of the late James S. and Ruth Naomi (Shoemaker) DeWitt. He married Shirley J. Reeder on October 14, 1959, in Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Carol J. DeWitt of Cambridge Springs, Nancy L. Stell (Mike) of Duncansville, and Bobbie J. Conrad (Terry Dandrea) of Altoona; four grandchildren, Tony (Heather), Michael (Amanda), Sammy (Dustin), and Josh (Devin); ten great grandchildren; and a brother, James DeWitt (Judy) of Fishersville, VA.

            Bob was preceded in death by two sisters.

            Mr. DeWitt was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School.

            He was a U.S. Army veteran where he proudly served as a Military Policeman.

            Mr. DeWitt retired as a shipping clerk from Small Tube Products, Inc. in 1998 following 40 years’ service.

            Bob loved to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed watching ice hockey (especially the Pittsburgh Penguins), college football (especially Penn State), working jig-saw puzzles, his Christmas trains, and the family dogs.

            A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Drew McCaffery officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 200 Third Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
